Originally from the St Louis area, Dr. Rodgers’ family moved to Atlanta when he was 10 years old. He grew up attending Shallowford Elementary and Dunwoody High School. At an early age he began thinking of dentistry as a profession. After receiving a good deal of encouragement and completing a couple of science projects concerning teeth, he decided to follow the educational pathway that would lead him to becoming a dentist. Dr. Rodgers attended Vanderbilt University for his undergraduate studies and finished with a degree in Molecular Biology and Mathematics. He was fortunate to get accepted by Emory University School of Dentistry after only three years at Vanderbilt. Volunteering his time and skills has been an aspect of Dr. Rodgers life for many years, beginning with volunteer work at Vanderbilt Hospital up through 26 years of service with Atlanta’s Ben Massell Dental Clinic. Since 2005 he has worked as a volunteer dentist for the humanitarian organization ServeHaiti to improve the lives of the people in Gran Bois, Haiti.

A. Deep dental cleaning is very similar to a routine dental cleaning. This cleaning is typically recommended for anyone that has not had a routine dental appointment in a long time or anyone who has excessive buildup on the teeth or beneath the gums. This deep cleaning is also called scaling and root planing, and it goes beneath the gum line to remove harmful bacteria to clean and protect the teeth.
